According to data from Macau's Public Security Police, the daily average number of visitors to Macau during this Labour Day holiday slightly over 120,000. Between May 1st and May 5th, which coincided with the Labour Day holiday in mainland China, a total of 604,395 visitors entered Macau, with the mainland being the primary source market for tourism in Macau.

The daily average number of visitors during this period was nearly 8% lower than the daily forecast of 130,000 visitors by the Macao Government Tourism Office weeks before the holidays.

The police data did not include a breakdown of the source markets for inbound visitors. However, it showed that the Border Gate, the inland boundary crossing between Macau and Zhuhai in Guangdong province, was the busiest, handling 261,805 visitor arrivals during the five days.

The second busiest border checkpoint was the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge crossing, which handled 106,499 visitor arrivals during the same period.

About a week before the May Day holiday, checks on the official reservation sites of luxury hotels in Macau casino resorts by GGRAsia indicated that some hotels were already fully booked for the relevant nights.

During a spot-check on May 2nd by GGRAsia, large numbers of tourists were observed in downtown Macau, the newer Cotai casino district, and some of the main casino floors.

The most common minimum bets on baccarat tables ranged from HKD1,000 ( US$128) to HKD1,500. A new 'Small 6/Big 6' baccarat side bet was also observed in use in the Macau market.

JP Morgan stated in a recent memo that the daily gross gaming revenue (GGR) during this year's Labour Day holiday period in the Macau casino market was likely to range between MOP800 million (US$99.1 million) and MOP850 million. They expressed that this would correspond to around 75% GGR recovery compared to the May Golden Week in 2019, implying a stable recovery of 110% to 120% for mass GGR, consistent with recent trends.
