MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has confirmed that it is actively monitoring the activities of Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in Metro Manila.
In a recent press conference, NCRPO Director General Maj. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. stated that they have implemented the ReACT POGO (React Against Offshore Philippine Gaming Operators) program, which aims to aggressively "keep an eye" on the activities of offshore Philippine gaming operators (POGOs) in the region.
"We have launched this program to combat criminal activities against POGOs, in which we will proactively visit these companies and exercise police visitation rights to inspect them," Nartatez said.
"This is done to ensure that there are no wanted employees or individuals in the companies and to ensure that no one is being illegally detained," he added.
Nartatez further explained that the program was put in place to curb crimes involving POGO personnel, such as kidnapping, aggravated unlawful detention, and robbery-racketeering, which have been the subject of congressional investigations.
In addition to this measure, the Director of the National Anti-Government Corruption Office (NAGCO) stated that they are coordinating closely with the LGUs to ensure that POGO operations comply with obtaining business licenses and other permits.
