By the conclusion of 2025, gaming analytics expert David Croft predicts that major properties in Macau, the Philippines, Australia, and New Zealand will embrace smart table technology, particularly for Baccarat due to its ease of implementation compared to other games. Croft, the Senior Vice President of Gaming Optimization & Strategy at Tangam Systems, foresees that the integration of smart table technology will revolutionize the casino gaming landscape, offering heightened security, efficiency, and profitability.

In the current market, casinos have three options for smart tables: those equipped with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology embedded in the table, float, and chips to monitor gameplay and patron activity; those furnished with cameras, including facial and body recognition, to track gameplay and patron activity; and hybrid tables combining RFID with video analytics for comprehensive monitoring.

Croft emphasizes the advantages of smart table technology, including enhanced security through the detection of fraudulent chips and dealer errors, as well as improved data collection for gaming floor management and yield management. The precise data collection also facilitates better testing and measurement of initiatives, leading to increased productivity and deeper insights into customer behavior.

Analysts George Choi and Ryan Cheung project a 5.9 percent increase in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for every five seconds saved per game of Baccarat, which is expected to contribute significantly to revenue growth without relying solely on increased footfall.

Moreover, smart tables ensure accurate customer activity data, enabling tailored marketing offers and correct distribution of rewards. They enhance operational efficiency by automating manual tasks, thus allowing staff to focus on delivering exceptional service to customers. Additionally, smart tables aid in compliance with regulatory requirements, providing accurate win/loss data essential for meeting Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.

Several prominent casinos, including MGM Cotai, MGM Macau, and Genting Highlands, have installed Walker Digital smart table technology, indicating the growing adoption of advanced gaming technology in major gaming hubs. Angel smart tables are also gaining traction, with installations at The Star Sydney and Sands Macau properties. Furthermore, resorts in the Philippines and Singapore have developed and implemented their own specialized smart table technology to enhance their gaming experiences and meet operational needs.
